Lambda Class, Fall 2004
Positions Held: Recruitment Chair, Webmistress, President Graduated: in 2008 with a Bachelors of Journalism in Publication Management Current Job: Assistant Account Executive at BKV, Inc. Current Location: Atlanta, GA Any advice for undergraduates? "One of my favorite motto's during college was: "Difficult is not impossible." Never limit yourself because your potential is probably much greater than you might think it is. Erase "I can't" from your vocabulary and always challenge yourself and push your limits. You'd be amazed at the things you are able to accomplish. In those moments when life presents obstacles that just seem too overwhelming to overcome also know that you always have a sisterhood to embrace you and help you in those times you need that extra push of strength. Respect and love your sisters, no matter your differences, and never leave a sister behind. Also, don't forget about the sisters who have graduated. Even though we aren't in college, it doesn't mean we don't understand what you're going through. Remember that we've been there before, and we know what it's like, so do not hesitate to reach out to alumnae for advice. Sisterhood extends well beyond graduation. After all... it is everlasting. :)" |

"Various reasons, but mostly timing. I had never heard of an Asian sorority, and I was very impulsive about going to the info session. But once I did, sisters kind of... sucked me in and I attended almost every event. I dragged my roommate Jean "Sistine" An in with me. I wanted a family away from family, because I used to move around a lot; which meant that I didn't have a core group of friends that I eventually found in the sorority." |
How has DPhiL helped you even after you graduated?
"It has definitely plumped my resume, and I am still very much involved. It has helped me understand the value of friendship and work ethic. The leadership roles I have had have helped me to become a leader today. More specifically, I know how to plan events, keep a firm hand on committees, and to iron out minute details."re to edit.

"DPhiL concentrates on professional development for the real world. You realize when you graduate that other organizations don't focus on that. Through the sorority, I've gained skills with communication and working with executives that I would not have gotten otherwise. I also had my DPhiL connections hook me up with jobs after graduation." Any advice for undergraduates? "I would recommend taking advantage of this time as an undergrad. College flies by and you don't want to miss out on any opportunities. If there is something you want to do, go for it. Don't graduate wishing you had dome more or hadn't tried." |

"When I started UGA, all I knew about was the beautiful campus, football culture, and the crazy amounts of Panhellenic Greek Life. However, after my first year at UGA, I realized that I wanted something stable and progressive for myself, and realized that Greek Life was the best way to get involved and gain the 'ultimate college experience'. One of my best friends had joined DPhiL before I had, and I saw all the experiences and how she grew as a person after joining, and I wanted to gain those gifts myself." |
How has DPhiL helped you even after you graduated?
"A lot of the business aspects definitely helped prepare me for the business aspects for my current job. Furthermore, the growth you go through as a person through DPhiL, such as networking, socializing, and helping build self-confidence shined its way through to help me with interviews, and even interacting with coworkers and my company's business partners. Most importantly, a lot of sisters were very helpful and encouraging to my job search process and also a support system."

Positions Held: Creative Director, Webmistress, Sisterhood Chair, Southeast Formal Promotional Chair Graduated: in 2016, B.F.C.S. Consumer Journalism, Advertising Emphasis Current Job: Freelance Calligrapher and Graphic Designer What is the best thing you have gained from DPhiL? DPhiL gave me the opportunity to meet and create friendships with people I probably would have never even met otherwise. Many of the closest relationships I have in my life today I owe to the sorority. DPhiL put me in situations where I could meet and become friends with similar people. It allowed me to make meaningful, lasting friendships not just inside the sorority, but also with people from other Greek orgs both on and off the UGA campus - many of whom I still talk to almost every day. |
Any advice for the undergraduates?
Don't forget to make time for the things that are important to you because your undergraduate years will be gone before you know it. 5 years from now, that huge test or paper you've been stressing out about won't seem all that important anymore. You'll have earned your degree and nobody in the adult world cares what your score was on your English Midterm Sophomore year. However, what you will continue to remember throughout the years are the memories you made and the relationships you built. So study hard, but don't forget to always make time to make memories too.

I looked into joining a sorority because I hadn't found a good group of friends with at UGA. It was such a huge campus and I wanted friends. I stumbled upon DPhiL during recruitment and I realized that these sisters have a great bond and I wanted to be a part of that. How has DPhiL helped you even after you graduated? As an undergrad, handling classes, sorority, and personal matters all seems super packed and busy. Learning how to manage your time during undergrad is extremely useful in the adult world. Also, if you hold any chair positions or commit to any event, these opportunities give you a sense of responsibility. What is the best thing you have gained from DPhiL? The best thing I've gained from DPhiL are the life-long friends I've made. Some of these sisters are going to be a part of my life forever and I'm truly grateful for that |

Positions Held: Recruitment Chair, Alumnae Liaison, Multicultural Greek Council Delegate Graduated: in 2017, B.B.A. in Management Information Systems, Minor in Fashion Merchandising Current Job: Claims Analyst What made you want to join DPhiL? Despite being within a group of complete strangers at the beginning, sisters somehow made me feel completely at home. I found people who understood me, had similar interests, passions, and goals. Moving into Athens on my own didn't seem so scary anymore because I knew I always had a sister to go to when I needed it most. How has DPhiL helped you even after you graduated? DPhiL has given me the courage to pursue bigger and better goals. Sisterhood How has DPhiL helped you even after you graduated? Connections and lasting friendships Any advice for undergraduates? Do as much as you can with the sorority, branch out from your chapter, and take your time because comparing yourself to other people’s pace will only demotivate you and hinder progress.
